Refined IA Topic Due Today - Friday !!!

Refined Topic Due Today!!!
Happiness: Another typical classroom day during the IA process!
The Internal Assessment (IA) Begins
Refine Your General Research Topic. See below for details!!

DUE: Friday, April 10
See Below for Instructions
You should have already copied and pasted your general research topic onto your IA document. However, I would like you to refine it to make it more specific. In order to do this well you will need to keep reading around your topic. Reading for TWO (2) hours would not be considered excessive. I suggest using Wikipedia to start. You can't cite anything from WP but it can help you better understand your topic.

Here are some examples of "refined" topics:

Too BroadPeaceful Co-existence
RefinedPeaceful Co-existence, "Open Skies" and the 1955 Geneva Conference

Too BroadCuban Missile Crisis
RefinedThe Secret Agreements between K and JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis

This is a GRADED assignment. (20 IA points) If you are unsure about whether or not your topic is "refined" enough, please e-mail me. I will NOT be in school Friday, but I will still respond to your query.

The only area you need to worry about until Monday is indicated in the picture above.

Vietnam War Test Next Double Block!!

Vietnam War Test Next Double Block
This Week!!
Example Test Question: "What is message conveyed by this 1968 photograph?

There will be a test Wednesday (tomorrow) based on what you have learned about the Vietnam War for the past two weeks. Most of the test will be source-based, so you really can't study for it. There is NO essay and this isn't a Paper 1 either. They will be "rapid response" answers of about a paragraph in length or a sentence or two.

But, you want to be sure to review your answer to the following assignments and know the general concepts listed below.

HOMEWORK: U.S. and Containment in Vietnam (Assigned March 23)
HOMEWORK: USA and the Vietnam War (Assigned March 27 & April 2)

-Know the countries that made up Indochina.
-Know who Ho Chi Minh & Ngo Dinh Diem were.
-Be familiar with the agreements made at the Geneva Conference in 1954.
-Know the significance of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.
-Understand who the U.S. was getting "mixed results" with regards to fighting the Viet Cong up to 1968.
-Understand the impact of the media upon the Vietnam War.
